Cross-country skiing trails in Großarl
30 km of best machine-groomed trails for classic and skating technique lead you back to the picturesque top of the valley. The trail starts in Großarl, runs south alongside the river, and after a short escarpment after 5 km, leads into the centre of the neighbouring village Hüttschlag . After 400 m of walking, the trail continues to the national park inn “Talwirt” at the top of Großarl valley. There you can benefit from a well-deserved break to visit the national park visitors’centre or the “Zauberwald” (magic forest) exhibition.

3 km of cross-country trail are floodlit at night every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 06.00 p.m. and 08.30 p.m. near the Aschauerstüberl in Hüttschlag.
Cross-country skiing up on the mountain pasture Saukaralm
This trail at 1850 m above sea level, with a length of 4 km, is open on 3 –5 days a week depending on weather conditions. Ascent to the trail is possible by taxi, private cars are not permitted.
Please ask for exact opening hours and schedule of the taxi shuttle to the Saukaralm at the reception of my Hotel Waldhof.
